I like what Guy said and wanted to list one of my favorite relationship books, “Date or Soul Mate, How to know if someone is worth pursuing in two dates or less,” by Neil Clark Warren, Ph.D. Floating in and out of relationships can be heart wrenching, so it is important for her to do some soul searching before she falls into the next relationship. We don’t want her to get hurt or hurt someone else, because she is lonely or angry. If you think she is too young for the book, then you could always read it and use it as a resource when you give her advice about dating. I have a feeling you’re going to get questions like that again and again. Well, there’s another two-penny comment from me…

My experience is the only way to get over someone is to start liking yourself again. I would tell her that the burden of getting over her ex-boyfriend isn’t on anyone’s shoulders but her own. You know, “call me when you’re ready to meet new people. I’ll just be over here having a good time with my own self confidence.”

Fish of choice or not, I wouldn’t want to be in your position right now. Better warn your friends to stay clear of the wounded heart, at least until she cools off. So what exactly did you tell her?

That could very well be. But I wouldn’t want to be her rebound guy, anyway … it just took me down a notch or two to apparently not even be considered. Many fish, one sea, etc.
