Thanksgiving recap
My aunt & uncle’s Thanksgiving visit was delayed ‘till Sunday, so we had a pleasant thanksgiving meal all to ourselves — only the nine of us. In an unexpected twist, Dad required each person to share a whopping four things for which he or she was thankful.
Surprisingly, almost everyone was able to quickly come up with four things off the top of their head. Mine were (paraphrased):
- For a good job that I can work on from anywhere.
- That we could all have such a good time together at a meal (and it was a good time).
- For a family singing ministry that just might be getting back off the ground.
- For a wonderful girl that I’m crazy about.
Everybody laughed and said things like, “Yeah, you’d better include that last one.” And the very next morning, I flew down to visit her again. We talked, played Sorry, did lots of piano playing and singing, and sat on a cold park bench and watched people. And in between all the turkey, I got to taste my first bit of fried okra.
A very good trip. Revealing much to be thankful for.
