The Hit List, or How I Raised Myself From Failure To Success In List Management

When I was a kid, I wanted to use a DayRunner just like my dad, mom, and the other adults I knew. I blocked off whole days like this in scribbly 10-year-old pencil: [SCHOOL] [lunch] [SCHOOL] [dinner] [um .. COMPUTER] Sometimes I would go so far as to try to vaguely plan tomorrow. “Mom, are […]

Appy Yoo Neer

I learned a lot in 2008. A lot of stuff changed. More on all that shortly. But I sincerely hope just as much education and change comes my way in 2009.

iTunes 6: AirTunes Gripes

UPDATE 2006.02.27: In iTunes 6.0.3, Apple seems to have put a band-aid on the problem by making all the speaker outputs obey the main iTunes volume. Once again, that just lowers the volume everywhere, including on the computer. It’s not a perfect solution, but I’ll accept it for now. Thanks, Apple! Nearly unnoticed in the […]

Unfortunately Daniel

These are from random Google results for “Unfortunately Daniel”. Whee. “Unfortunately Daniel has ADHD and spends more than 40 hours a week playing computer games or watching cartoons.” I’ve got to get that down to at least 35. “Unfortunately, Daniel could not take that time.” Or maybe 30. That might work. “Unfortunately, Daniel missed the […]

Google: Remove Result/Sitemaps Benefits

Whilst investigating Google’s Click-to-Call feature on the Achive-IT! blog, I happened upon these bits of Google coolness that I’ve not yet seen covered anywhere: “Remove result” and some manner of site link grouping. Witness the screenshot below: Not only do search results give you the option to remove pesky results from this and any future […]

Shofar

I’m sitting on the couch, wrapping up work for the day, listening to the guy upstairs witness to the neighborhood kids. He’s using his shofar as an object lesson, which is a pretty cool idea. And contrary to my currently-cynical expectations of modern adolescents, a few kids are apparently listening and thinking about it.

Safari Crasher

This code crashes Safari 2.0 (412), the build included in Mac OS X 10.4.1. I’ve no idea why. If you type something in the field and then click or tab away, Safari (or any other WebCore instance) instantly freezes and/or quits. But it doesn’t always happen the first time. <input type=”text” onblur=”this.type=’password’;” onfocus=”this.type=’text’;” /> View […]

Haiku IM fun

Tim was all proud of himself for composing a haiku away message: I have Time to kill- What ever shall I do now? Play some basketball. So I countered with my own: My work is postponed. Sitting at the computer I am eating lunch. And the following conversation ensued (edited for punctuation and IM line […]

Book Meme

Meme’d by the lovely Aelki. One can never have too many books (much like toilet paper). Number of books I own: Well, there are 220 on the two shelves pictured (not counting the books in the reflection). I have a bunch more in boxes, and five more are sitting on my desk right now. See […]
